September 1st, 2010
Tsiremo Apple has announced that there will be a press conference live video stream on September 1 for the music-theme event. You will be able to access the live video which starts at 10AM PT at Apple.com but the sad thing is only users on Apple devices will be able to watch the live stream. According to Apple press release – “Viewing requires either a Mac® running Safari® on Mac OS® X version 10.6 Snow Leopard®, an iPhone® or iPod touch® running iOS 3.0 or higher, or an iPad™.”
Here’s the reason why only Mac users have the access to see the live video stream. ReadWriteWeb explains:
“Apple will broadcast the event using its internally-developed HTTP Live Streaming Protocol, which requires either a Mac running Safari on Mac OS X version 10.6, an iPhone or iPod touch running iOS 3.0 or higher or an iPad.[...] The HTTP live streaming protocol is a feature of the latest version of Apple’s multimedia player and framework, QuickTime X. The new protocol lets users stream audio and video over HTTP. This makes things easier for broadcasters, who can use a standard Web server instead of a special media server to stream in almost-real time.”
We all don’t know what will be the press conference is all about but rumors are now spreading that maybe Apple unveils new versions of the iPod Touch and iPod Nano, as well as updates to Apple iTV.
